*spoiler alert

Set in a futuristic Japan, the Government has an advanced technology called "AllTale" which can realistically record the past to preserve the country's history and culture.

Then one day, Naomi Katagaki, the leading character notices an unusual aurora borealis in the sky. An odd crow flew over and snatched his notebook. He follows the crow leading him to a shrine. There he met another Naomi Katagaki and from there his adventure starts.

I'm expecting more drama romance in this film, something like it will give you a tearjerker. There's a tearjerker scene but not enough for my tears to drop, It never came. The story lacks impact. But no doubt the animation itself gives an impact - It's impressive!

Plus in the story, I find it unrealistic and not feasible for technology like "AllTale" to become true in the future (in our real world); on the point where it can record human intelligence too as the past-Katagaki is sentient in "AllTale" world. I find copying human intelligence invasive and susceptible to privacy abuse. It's unethical. And who knows, It could be copying the soul of a human too. I have so many questions about "AllTale" but I guess, I'll leave it as an entertainment-only subject and no chance Tomohiko Itō will give an in-depth explanation about the AllTale. I also guess he got the idea of AllTale because he got the inspiration from directing Reki Kawahara's Sword Art Online into anime.

I'll just leave it at that - a drama romance flick animation. I will not think much anymore on the tech side.

The story is okay, I'll gauge further the rating to a 'very okay' film since I really like the cinematography. The HD-ish plus CGI-ish quality animation.

My rating will be in the middle: 5.0 / 10.0

Another World

another world spin off to hello world 2019 poster
This three-episode spin-off was released before the main film. A reference for viewers to understand further the story background. It's a 10-minutes long per episode. Watching this is actually more appealing than watching the main film. You can feel the hardship of Naomi Katagaki of the real world (not the recorded Naomi Katagaki), he did everything for the sake of love.

If you skip this spin-off, you might find the real-world Katagaki arrogant, and selfish which is partly true but there's a reason behind those and you'll find that out with this spin-off episodes.

Trivia:
  • Tomohiko Itō also directed the first two seasons of Sword Art Online Anime. Sword Art Online, a Japanese light novel series written by Reki Kawahara (where Tomohiko Itō directed the anime version) also takes place in a futuristic world where people can play a role-playing game with a cerebral device.

Movie Review: Godzilla [ ゴジラ | Gojira ] (1954) | The 1st Godzilla Film

I first learned of Godzilla in the 90s. I was too young back that time. I feel happy whenever I saw a movie trailer of it in a TV commercial. The movie trailer is black and white. Later on, Cable channel is booming in every home. I was able to watch another Godzilla movie on cable TV. As far as I can remember, Star Movies channel aired it. The Godzilla movie I watched is colored but I wasn't able to watch it fully. Just only half of it.

I'm already an adult and I realized, I've never watched a full Godzilla movie. Any of it. I mean, In the past, I watched some of it but I'm not always on schedule. You can't pause or replay movies on cable TV during those times. Nowadays, you can watch them anywhere online - free or paid. So, I decided to watch the first Godzilla movie.

I discovered this film from "Just for fun" website called 9GAG (see direct link of the story here). It became a bit of viral due to the gory flick of the trailer. Not sure if I find it odd that people are liking the video. It's sick & disgusting.

Let me know your impression after watching the trailer below. Also, I found a link where you can watch it for free, full in hi-definition.

gargantuan titan in attack of titan live action film 2015 part 1
Screengrab from the Attack on Titan film trailer by Madman

If you watched and love the Shingeki no Kyojin anime or also known as "Attack on Titan", think twice before you watch the live film version in your local cinema. This is a friendly advice from me, an Attack of Titan fan.

Note: The next paragraph may contain spoiler and a lot of disappointment.
